A full range of bicycle maintenance

Every machine needs care, cleanliness and lubrication, and bicycles are no exception.
To ensure a trouble-free ride, your bike and its components should be serviced regularly.
Maintenance can be divided into different types: zero maintenance, diagnosis, preventive maintenance, component maintenance and full maintenance.

  • Zero maintenance is the preventive maintenance of a new bike and the pre-sale preparation of the bike before it is handed over to the happy owner. Also zero maintenance is applied to new forks, shock absorbers and dropper seatposts – a visual inspection is done. We carry out this procedure with each bike when we take it out of the box.
  • Bicycle Diagnostic carried out technical inspection and is identified by diagnose – what to maintain, repair or change to a new one.
  • Prevention bike – checks the tightening of all bolts with special wrenches, adjustment transmissions, adjustment of bushings, pumping wheels.
  • Maintenance of individual components – maintenance of forks, shock absorbers, bushings, wheels, transmissions and other mechanisms of your bike is carried out at the desire of the client, deterioration or wear (each part and mechanism of its own works schedule) or on the recommendation of the bike mechanics Black Bike service.
  • Complete maintenance – at regular intervals you must have a complete maintenance and check, replace or repair the components of your bicycle. The wizard disassembles the bike down to the “bare” frame, washes everything with Mac-Off detergents in a special bicycle wash, lubricates with professional oils, and if necessary, coordinates the replacement of the components. Then it’s reassembled and adjusted.

Each component has its own maintenance intervals, these recommendations are provided by bike and parts manufacturers.
Any extreme conditions (rain, heavy loads) require an individual assessment of the viability of parts and mechanisms.

You can make an appointment in advance by phone for a consultation and inspection of your bike.

If you are an average cyclist and ride up to 2000-5000 km per year, we recommend a full service once a year.

Examples of maintenance:

  • Wheel alignment is recommended once a year, even if visually the wheels are fine. Wheels should also be straightened if necessary if there are eighths.
  • Tapered cup bushing maintenance is also recommended once a year for oil changes and taper adjustment.
  • The maintenance of the bushings on the bearings is done when the bearings need to be replaced, as well as once a year to clean and lubricate the ratchet mechanism (pawls).
  • Complete maintenance of the fork and shock absorber – once a year. For active cyclists who use the bike for sport or extreme riding, we recommend following the recommendations of the manufacturers.
  • Shirt and cable changes for trouble-free shifting are done once a year.

Simple maintenance and diagnostics can be done by the user.

Before each ride, it is necessary to check the pressure in the wheels, lubricate the chain, check how the eccentrics or axles are tightened and the smooth rotation of the wheels. Keep your bike clean so it and its components will last longer. Wipe the chain with a rag. Keep the suspension fork and shock absorber clean. Wash your bike with water and detergent, a sponge or soft brush, and wash off dirt with water. It is not advisable to wash your bike with water under pressure, although this is effective, but if the wash fails, water will get inside the mechanisms, at least the bike needs maintenance and at worst you can damage components.
