Tyler wanted an escape from the world of “CMX”, and he needed to get his fix before his new track frame went off to paint… He stopped by on his way to work and let me take some pictures of him looking pro. I love the Columbus Life tubing I built this frame with, it was incredibly easy to work with, and it rides great, so great I think I will have to make make next bike with Life as well!

On a side note, you might not see me posting for a week or so due to some exciting news that I will share with you when I get back!

My dad has been fabricating Corian just as long as anybody, and still mantains a full shop that I am fortunate to have full reign of in the evenings. The material is amazing to work with, it can be thermoformed and sanded and glued into just about anything you could want… Besides one important thing, and that’s why I’m building steel bikes and not making countertops.

Tonights project was a knife block for Kelsey and I, all our knives are in a drawer right now, and that’s not ok.

Tyler has been riding his commuter a lot lately (as opposed to he 700cmx), and recently has been completing his “dream build”… H Plus Son Formation Face rims with machined anodized braking surface the front built to an Ultegra hub, and the rear Alfine hub both 24 hole as they come with the stock wheel build. Jitensha Studio bars, which feel pretty sweet, with a little more solid feel to them as opposed to the Nitto Dove bars. New 130 DA stem in the mail, and probably throwing a Rolls saddle and TRP brakes on there for good measure. Next he wants a traditional steel road frame with a lugged fork even, if you know Tyler, this is a surprise!

jitensha bars feel really good, not sure why we didn’t start with them, look amazing too. On the subject of bars, I tried the new MAP & Ahearne Bars out recently and was pretty into em’, I’m kinda on a transportation kick lately, not that I wasn’t before…
